Edgewater Bait and Tackle is located between the Ottawa River and Maumee Bay on Lake Erie in Point Place, (Toledo), Ohio. We carry a full line of tackle for river and lake fishing. We also have your favorite beer and sodas all year long. Sandwiches and chips and sweets are always fresh. We have the largest fish cleaning facilities in Toledo, with over a combined fish cutting experience of 115 years.
The only Public boat launch, on the Maumee, is just three blocks from our store allowing easy access to the Maumee River and Maumee Bay and Lake Erie.

The walleyes start gathering at the mouth of the Maumee river in early March, getting ready for the spawning run up the river. The river fishermen use floating jig heads, better known as Carolina rigs, to catch their limit of walleyes. While the boaters on the bay and the lake, use hair jigs, purple jigs have been the hot color for years, tipped with a large shiner minnow, fished on the bottom. As the water temperature starts to warm in late March and early April, the fishing action increases tremendously. The spawn usually ends about the second week of May and the fishing technique,on the lake and bay, changes to casting weight forward lures with night crawlers or drifting with crawler harnesses. The walleyes are hungry after the spawn and become very active. As the river walleye run slows down the white bass run begins. Nice catches of 25 or more are common. Of course spring is also catfish and bullhead time anywhere along the shoreline. The fishing is good all year around so come on out and see us.
